*Finished* “Ethnosphere” Rebecca Ladds, 2011.
A friend had asked if I was going to sell copies of this, like photo-mechanical reproductions..ie. posters. If I did, would that be something any of you would be interested in buying?
It’s 17”x21”. Fairly large for a drawing. Poster size. :)
AND those who have been eagerly waiting, I will announce the opening of my shop on Thursday!! The url is secret until then. :) Hope you’re all well!

can you post a pic of your self?
Just this once because I’m drawing anyway. and wanted to show you guys the progress. I seem to be letting ‘Ethnosphere’ get a little edgy! BUT if you want to see mass amounts of vain pictures of myself, you’ll probably be satisfied with following my personal tumblr HERE. This blog is for my art not my face!

"Chameleon Skull" Rebecca Ladds, 2011. Pine wood. This still isnt finished ( I plan on using woodstain and mass amounts of lacquer) but this is the condition in which it was critiqued today in form and structure class. About 40 hours of work. It’s probably about 2ft long, and 1 ft wide. It’s a good thing THE JAW FELL OFF AND SNAPPED INTO 7 PIECES after the critique when I was going back into the woodshop to fix a crack in it. I’ll spend probably about 20 more hours on it, twice as much to try and salvage the jaw again. Either way, I’m very happy with the result. My first attempt at ever doing this kind of woodwork. Plus it looks pretty badass mounted on the wall.

Drawing for Nature and Culture class. "Ethnosphere" 2011. I’m purposely juxtaposing cultural adornments on women, a Virgin Mary style woman with neck coils? Yeah.

“Now, together the myriad cultures of the world make up a web of spiritual life and cultural life that envelops the planet, and is as important to the well-being of the planet as indeed is the biological web of life that you know as a biosphere. And you might think of this cultural web of life as being an ethnosphere and you might define the ethnosphere as being the sum total of all thoughts and dreams, myths, ideas, inspirations, intuitions brought into being by the human imagination since the dawn of consciousness. The ethnosphere is humanity’s great legacy. It’s the symbol of all that we are and all that we can be as an astonishingly inquisitive species." - Wade Davis.

It’s far from complete but I needed to post it because it’s today:Happy Women’s Day!

I’m starting to look like my images. Does art imitate life? or does life imitate art?
