Quick update of an assignment I’m working on. Another panel of my feminine family portrait for nature and culture class. This is the self portrait part. This panel and THIS panel will be the biggest, as it is my own examination of the relationship I have with my mum and how she has influenced me.
Drawing with ink on mylar is the best feeling in the world. I highly recommend you try it.
This is also from last semester. Unfinished, from a two-day sustained position life drawing. I’d like to finish it still, and just improvise the rest. One day there was a reclining skeleton, and the second there was a model lying in its place so I managed to get some interesting layering effects in the lower figure.
I miss working in carbon! It’s been too long. I think I’ll revisit this one in the next couple days. Rebecca Ladds, 2010
This was a final assignment for drawing class last semester. ‘Self Portrait with headgear’. Rebecca Ladds, 2010.
Hours upon hours of staring into the mirror and drawing, can you tell I was tired?
Carbon pencil on paper. Probably around 2.5’ x 1.5’?
Work in progress. Part of a triptych-ish collection of wood panels that is an examination of my own experiences with the relationship of nature vs. nurture.
Isn’t my mother beautiful!?

Rebecca Ladds, 2011. Something in the works.
So I was trying to take photos of the size difference in the mini Soft Anatomy prints and my bunny rained on my parade. This is the size difference though. They will be up in the shop soon. Anyone game for a giveaway!?

A ‘Soft Anatomy’ MINI!
I had to do a quick painting for a weekly assignment in colour explorations.
So I did this hasty one of a cedar waxwing, which is my favourite bird. I may do something with this in the future. I don’t usually like using bright colours, but this may have changed my mind.

Additions to the ‘Soft Anatomy’ (‘Cat’ and ‘Bird’) project. I hope to be doing lots of these! They are mini prints that hang lovely by themselves or combined with eachother. I have a bunch more to print tomorrow and after that they’ll be for sale in my SHOP!
