What sort of music (if any) do you listen to while working?
It really depends what kind of mood I’m in! Recently it’s been these full albums:
20 Odd Years by Buck 65 Blood Pressures by The Kills Two Dancers by Wild Beasts Arular and Kala by M.I.A. Brothers by The Black Keys Lord of the Rings soundtrack or The Boat that Rocked Soundtrack!
And if I’m in a particular mood where I don’t want music I put on the Stephen Fry narrated Harry Potter audiobooks! :3 I definitely get inspired by whatever I’m listening to! It’s good to change it up frequently.
What kind of ink/pen do you use and where do you get it???
I use speedball Super black india ink, and two different nibs. From all I know they aren’t branded, I just get them out of a little drawer! I’m not a fan of knowing sizes or whatever, I just buy what feels best at the time. I use both of these for every drawing, the bigger one for basic outlines, and the tiny little nib for hatching and details. That’s really all I can tell you as I can’t remember the numbers on the little drawer I took it from.
And I got them from an art supply store, they’re sure to have them. My advice is to just buy a couple nibs and the pen/handle they fit into and try them out and see which one you like, it’s different for everyone! I like rigid ones without a lot of give, but for instance my friend likes them super flexible and delicate. Sorry I couldn’t be more of help!
I like the way my colours are never perfect or true. If I don’t wash it, then, say when I’m mixing a green, it has tiny bits of red undertone and all of these beautiful browns and blues on the edges. Also, because every colour has pretty much every other colour in it because it has gradually been mixed in, the entire palette is unified so colours never look bad beside eachother. I hope that makes sense. It just makes for unique colours that are so far from the colours in the tube of paint.
